Congratulations to Red Bull Holden Racing!

Congratulations to Red Bull Holden Racing for their victory in the 2017 V8 Supercars Championship

Jamie Whincup has secured his seventh V8 Supercars title for Red Bull Holden Racing Australia (RBHRA) in a dramatic finish at the Coates Hire Newcastle 500.  Whincup sealed the victory finishing first in the final race of the season, narrowly beating out Scott McLaughlan of the Shell V-Power Racing Team who was awarded a penalty on the very last lap, pushing him below 11th place and out of contention for the title.

The title is Whincup’s first since 2014 after winning six in seven years from 2008, and he was quick to pay tribute to McLaughlin, who won more races than any other driver this year and had more than five times the number of poles.

“Credit to the DJR Team Penske crew, they’ve been tough competition all year,” said Whincup.  “Scott (McLaughlin) will probably come back and win five or six championships of his own in the future.”

Behind the on-track heroics however, the efforts of the RBHRA team off the track may just be the advantage that helped Whincup get over the line. By utilising ANSYS simulation technology, the RBHRA engineering team has gained greater insight into the performance of vehicle components and allowed for the rapid investigation of design changes in a virtual environment. Indeed, you can see that when the entire race season is decided on the final lap of the final race, it is clear that every small advantage gained through engineering and design is priceless.  For RBHRA, we are proud that part of that advantage is their use of ANSYS engineering simulations.

LEAP Australia congratulates the team at Red Bull Holden Racing Australia and Jamie Whincup on his record seventh V8 Supercars title. We look forward to continue supporting the team to achieve more success in 2018 and beyond.
