Seminar: ROCKY 4 – Next Generation DEM Particle Simulator (Brisbane)

August 24, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 am

ROCKY 4: Next Generation DEM Particle Simulator

Presented by Clovis Maliska Jr – President and co-founder of Engineering Simulation and Scientific Software (ESSS)

LEAP Australia is pleased to announce that Clovis Maliska Jr will be visiting Australia and presenting free live seminars from 21st – 25th August, 2017.  We invite you to join us for this series of seminars which will provide an overview of the unique capabilities and new features of Rocky 4.

Rocky is a powerful, 3D DEM program that quickly and accurately simulates particle behaviour within bulk materials handling systems used across a variety of industries including mining and minerals processing, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, agricultural and any industry dealing with particulate systems or solids handling applications.

Some keys features include:
• an extensive library of realistic particle shapes,
• an intuitive and easy-to-use interface,
• superior scalability with CPU and GPU processing,
• advanced breakage and flexible particle models,
• evaluation of belt and surface wear,
• integration with ANSYS FEA and CFD,
• moving/vibrating boundaries and more.

New Features in Rocky 4

Rocky 4 was released in May 2017 and is the first commercially available solver to offer support for multi-GPU processing. This powerful, innovative, and highly-anticipated release aims to revolutionize processing performance and pave the way for solving bigger simulations faster than ever before. In addition, Rocky 4 brings many new and improved features that will help users perform more accurate and complex simulations, including a completely rebuilt motion kernel, enhanced Fluent-Rocky coupling, improved particle modelling, extended post-processing features and more. This new release promises to expand the boundaries of particle simulation.

Bio Pharma company Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) simulates a 150L commercial scale high shear wet granulator with over 10 million particles using the Multi-GPU capabilities of Rocky. View full case study here.

“The highlight of the Rocky software is certainly its speed and realistic particle shapes. For us, being able to simulate the exact number of particles in the exact same size distributions and shape representations that we have in our experimental studies is the primary benefit to using Rocky DEM.”

Preetanshu Pandey, Ph.D.
Principal Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS)

Who should attend?
The seminars will cover an overview of the software’s features and capabilities followed by an update of new features in Rocky 4 therefore making it suitable for new and existing users of DEM. Those that are currently not using DEM for their designs but are interested in understanding the capabilities and benefits of this technology are also encouraged to attend.
